Human Design

The calculated map of your birth — type, strategy and authority.

What it is

A system calculated deterministically from your birth data (date, time, place, via ephemerides): energy type, strategy, decision authority, profile, gates and channels in the bodygraph. No questions, no LLM — just calculation. Coming soon to Pantheons.

Where it comes from

Ra Uru Hu (Alan Krakower) · The Definitive Book of Human Design (1987/2011)

The original synthesis: I Ching, astrology, Kabbalah, chakras and pop physics in a single mandala.

What it does NOT measure

It isn’t psychometrics, it isn’t astronomy applied to personality with scientific validity, and in Pantheons it never overrides an anchor: it’s a symbolic layer.

Evidence — symbolic language

Human Design was created in 1987 by Robert Alan Krakower (Ra Uru Hu) from an eight-day mystical experience in Ibiza — not from empirical research — and synthesizes Western astrology, the 64 hexagrams of the I Ching, the Kabbalistic Tree of Life and the Hindu chakra system into a typological system of five Types (Generator, Manifestor, Projector, Reflector and Manifesting Generator). There is not a single study published in a peer-reviewed scientific journal that has tested the system’s predictive validity or psychometric reliability; the only practitioner work (Haspel-Portner et al., Rave Life Sciences) merely analyzes the frequency of Types in birth records, with no peer review or independent replication. The proposed mechanism — planetary neutrinos imprinting the genetic design at the moment of birth — is described by critics and by reference sources within the field itself as unestablished in physics, since neutrinos interact extremely weakly with matter and carry no structured information about planetary positions (Human Design Hub, "Is Human Design Scientific?", Mar 2026; Laplasa, Feb 2026). The sense of personal accuracy many users report is largely explained by the Barnum/Forer effect — the tendency to accept generic, flattering descriptions as personalized portraits —, a phenomenon documented since Forer (1949, Journal of Abnormal and Social Psychology) and reviewed by Dickson & Kelly (1985, Psychological Reports). As a calibration benchmark: even the MBTI, a system with decades of formal research, shows reasonable reliability in meta-analysis (mean alpha and test–retest ≈ 0.82, with a wide range of roughly 0.48 to 0.97 across scales and samples; Capraro & Capraro, 2002) and is still considered psychometrically limited in validity (Pittenger, 1993; Stein & Swan, 2019) — a level Human Design doesn’t even reach, having no independent psychometric data at all. Human Design’s input system, astrology, has been tested double-blind with no results above chance (Carlson, 1985, Nature). As a symbolic-narrative system, Human Design can work as a mirror for self-knowledge — similar to the role Tarot or astrology plays for some users — but without a scientific basis for its causal claims about energy, types or genetics.

The studies behind this

Real, verifiable references — click to check them yourself. That’s what separates a reading from a horoscope.

How it enters the crossing

Birth tier (0.5) — the lowest weight in the system, by design. Role: narrative convergence. If the bodygraph says "projector" and the anchors show someone who guides more than executes, that becomes an interesting rhyme — never proof.

This is one lens. Your portrait crosses all twelve — who you are appears where they meet.
