Type 5 · Investigator

Thinking (head) center — fear

Understands before stepping in. Makes knowledge a fortress.

Core fear

being incapable, depleted, intruded upon

Core desire

to be competent, to manage on their own

Passion

avarice — hoarding energy, time and knowledge

Avoidance

depletion and intrusion

Light

Intellectual depth, real autonomy, the ability to see whole systems.

Shadow

Rations themselves out of life. Observing becomes a hiding place; the world happens out there.

Arrows (the model’s theory)

In growth it tends toward type 8; under stress, it slides into patterns of type 7. That’s what the model predicts — not a measurement of you.

In full

The Investigator runs on a budget: energy, time and presence are scarce resources the world wants to drain. The solution is to understand everything deeply — competence is safety.

The withdrawal isn’t shyness: it is a conservation strategy. Avarice hoards knowledge and privacy the way one stocks supplies for a siege.

At their best, they leave the tower and act with the confidence of someone who knows — knowledge becomes power, not a stockpile. Under pressure, they scatter into a thousand interests and postpone life indefinitely.
